as a little girl, we always went camping with my dad's pride and joy: his tent. last summer, my family and I gathered together, like we do every year, on the date my dad passed away. I spontaneously rescued the tent from a clean-up session (the tent was un-useable) as I wanted to transform the tent into a dress for my 30th birthday. it was a beautiful (yet emotional) process, where I visited a sail maker who helped me to transform the original zip into a two-way one in order to make my design a reality. additionally, I did all the moulding to my own body in order to perfectly fit the dress. my dress was finished for my birthday which I celebrated at my childhood home, dancing into the night to my dad's vinyl collection. it felt amazing to relive the warmth and safety of the tent around me. a special night, and I just know my dad was watching with a smile from up there in the clouds.
